I would like to assure everyone that Aizen's closure of the senkaimon has been verified and is effective. There's no need to test it by taking a running start and crashing headfirst into a barrier, as at least two of you have tried already.

Shinigami remain on-assignment and in the living world; they will continue to do their jobs, so I suggest that everyone still in Soul Society focus on doing yours.

Ichigo and Kensei, I had planned to retrieve some fresh reading material from the living world in order to make your convalescence more tolerable, but it seems I'll have to make do with the manga I have on hand. I'll stop by this afternoon to drop it off.

Renji, you owe me dinner.

It goes without saying that none of you are responsible for Aizen's actions, if you were stupidly considering feeling guilty.

The quarantine continues, but Captain Unohana and Vice-Captain Kotetsu, if you've got any updates, I'd be grateful for them. ~~Especially about my brother.~~ Captain Ukitake is resting in bed today, but I want to assure everyone that it's simply a bout of his normal illness and no cause for alarm.

I understand that a late training session on our division's grounds last night turned into something of a party. As your vice-captain, I'm not against forms of stress-relief, but I am against party games that result in officers' pants being left at the scene.

Whoever these belong to, you can come and claim them in the main office.

Apologies for my lateness this morning. A few notes were left in my absence, and yes, I'll be overseeing division matters while Captain Ukitake and the others are occupied with choosing the future path of the Gotei. Squad leaders, this doesn't mean slacking off on drills—I'll be circulating later this afternoon to make sure. We may already have a captain, but everyone still needs to be in top shape.

I dreamed of him again last night. I thought I was done with that—it's been months—but I suppose I can't ever escape what happened there. All I can do is protect the captain from having to know about it. I couldn't bear if he were hurt by it—and I took care of it, so there's no reason he will be.

Dreaming of that night always throws me off-balance. I'll be glad when this day is done.

Several days on and I've just now caught up with the work that built up during a two-day absence from the office. I believe I've responded to all messages via butterfly or mailed report, but if I've overlooked anything, please contact me. Ise-san, thank you for your assistance during my convalescence; it was very helpful.

Captain Ukitake, you'll find a transfer request to Twelfth Division among the items I passed on to your desk. It's an unusual request, but after speaking with the officer in question ~~to make sure she wasn't being coerced by mind-control devices~~, I'm inclined to grant it. Yoshima-san seems very scientific-minded and eager to contribute to Captain Mayuri's work.

Ichigo—since you've gone as far as I can help you with the butterflies, I have some other work for you in my office, if you'd like to try something new. I'll be around all afternoon.
