Does it need to be face to face? Im kinda not in a position to leave Rukongai right now. Someone has to try to keep as many people rational as possible.
[Rukia made her way to the appointed spot early, jittery despite herself. She wasn't worried about being assaulted, nor that she'd be forced to harm others, and she had every right to be here; but the carved seals wrapped in paper that she carried seemed as if they might burn in her hands.
It was unlikely that she'd have gotten permission to take them. So she just hadn't asked. Tapping her foot, she waited for Kuukaku to appear.]
[Kuukaku appears a bit early herself as well. Despite all the chaos of the past few weeks, the lack of sleep, the stress, she still walks like she's ready to put her geta up someone's ass.
She sees Rukia and gestures her to follow, a storage shed that survived the invasion, even if the building around it was reduced to rubble, serving as some privacy and shelter.]
[Normally she'd have been happier to see Kuukaku. It had been a while, after all. But socializing would have to wait until next time.
Unwrapping the seals, she offered the three pieces of intricately carved wood to Kuukaku, along with the paper.]
Here. These are passes to any of the Kuchiki family storehouses in Rukongai--you can take whatever you need with them. I've written down the ones that have more supplies than just food. They'll let you take whatever you need.
They're not enough to help everyone; I only wish they were. But they should make some difference.
[Recognizes the seals as soon as she unwraps them, the Kuchiki crest carved into the middle of each slat of wood. The artistry was deliberately intricate - it made it harder to forge such things. And the numbers on the back side were additional protection against would-be scammers. She looks them all over and skims across the manifest before glancing back at Rukia.]
The water will certainly help the little ones out there. Tools and materials to actually start rebuilding as well are gonna help.
[She pauses, giving the passes another scrutinizing look.]
How much trouble are you gonna be in when it gets out that you gave these to me?
Good. That's what they're meant for. It's better than just letting things sit unused.
[She sighed. It wasn't as if they'd boot her out of the family or put her in jail, but there were other penalties she might have to pay. She'd face them if and when the time came.]
I don't know. Possibly none; I didn't ask to take them, and it may be that no one we'll notice they're gone. But if someone does, I'll handle it. Don't worry about me.
I don't think the Kuchiki keep such shabby records to not find out eventually. You might just wanna come clean before they can drum up any sort of real anger over it.
[The passes and the paper disappear into her cloak all the same. If it was just her, she would've refused. But there were too many for whom these passes would save.]
Just wait till after this debacle dies down. [She rubs at her forehead.] I dont want Seireitei to send out a damn legion of shinigami to shut these people up, but... god, I'm exhausted.
[Half a lie, half the truth. But Kuukaku has more important things to do right now, and she can do them, which makes all the difference.]
You should sleep when you can. And yes, I'm aware of what a hypocritical statement that is. Maybe these can buy enough time for you to rest before you just fall over.
Ichigo's gonna get pissed if you end up getting yourself in a lot of shit over this. And if you end up collapsing from exhaustion, so you get some sleep too.
[Yeah, she saw those tired eyes even without Rukia's admittance. Probably because they echo her own all too well.]
Keep your head covered, Kuchiki, I dunno how long this shit's gonna last. It wont be over for a long while.
